Recently, through Facebook, I reconnected with an old high school friend.  She told me that she had suffered from Ovarian cancer a few years ago.  Becaue of the cancer, she had to have her ovaries removed.  Now, if she wants to carry a child, if she can carry a child, she will need a donar egg to make it happen.

According to the American Cancer Society, Ovarian cancer is the eighth most common cancer among women.  21,550 new cases of this cancer were diagnosed in 2009.  "If ovarian cancer is found (and treated) before the cancer has spread outside the ovary, the 5-year survival rate is 93%. However, less than 20% of all ovarian cancer is found at this early stage"

So, ladies, young and old, single and married, Moms, sisters, Aunts, grandmas and friends, please make sure to go see you GYN and get your yearly check up.  Don't put it off.  Make sure to call today.
