editorsnoteJuly2010 While we usually like to talk about issues and local women in Jill, this month we couldn’t help but focus on something else we all love, (and sometimes too much), FOOD! And we couldn’t have picked a better month to talk about food, with upcoming barbecues and cookouts, because one thing is for sure, the warm weather is a great excuse to get out and party.

But, don’t worry about overeating too many bad things, just focus on enjoying the fresh, healthy fresh fruits and vegetables that are available all summer, straight from the farm.

This time of year lends itself to some wonderful recipes that, with lots of fruits and veggies, can also be very good for you. Our main feature offers plenty of recipes that you can enjoy, that are also good for you too.

In fact, make sure you try the turkey burger recipe, which came from ad sales rep Elaina Nunn. The best part about this recipe is that it is low in fat, and in order to keep things different, Elaina has also made different versions, such as Greek and Asian. It’s a great spin on an old standby. In fact, I can honestly say that I never liked turkey burgers until Elaina brought in hers for us to sample.

Swapping and collecting recipes is something I really enjoy, which is why next month we’re going to add a new column to Jill, called Budget Chef, written by Toni Smith, who is a self-proclaimed casserole lover.

After seeing her first installment, I have already vowed to try them all, so I hope you enjoy them too.

In fact, please feel free to send in your own favorite recipes! If you send them in, I will print one or two favorites every month, so we can all add to our recipe collections.

Just send them to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and include your contact info, in case I have any questions.

Thank you and enjoy your summer!
